Dear Daughter : As autumn falls
Posted on
Dear Daughter,
Once upon a time when Autumn fell and cast its orange and yellow spell,
I would wrap up warm and go for a walk, a chance to reflect without the need to talk,
But now as Autumn leaves fall, you want to kick them like a ball,
You want to jump and scream and shout, without a care if anyone's about,
I now wrap you up warm as you go outside, watching you laugh I am filled with pride,
I see your character and confidence grow, as the autumn will turn to winter snow,
I want you to spread your wings and fly but I dont want to simply be a passer by,
I want to share your highs and lows, we all know how the story goes,
I want to be the mum who knows it all but I will always be there to catch you if you fall,
Fall from height or fall from grace, my arms will always be a safe place,
As you grow older I dont need time to reflect,
Because you are my daughter, my angel, you are perfect.
