The Little Lilypad is a lifestyle blog mostly written by a mum to two beautiful, cheeky and entertaining daughters. It is sometimes written by the Man on the Pad or by one of our baby bloggers. Occasionally we accept guest posts too. There is frequently talk of sustainable living, saving money, lifestyle and travel. It is hopefully helpful, sometimes funny and always honest.

Great list - and so true. Number 3 resonates with me because I just had my 40th birthday party last month and a friend who'd known about it for 6 months made pathetic excuses not to come. It was a relaxed event in the garden and went on all day, so she could have popped in for an hour. But she didn't. When I was younger, I'd have got very emotional about this and probably picked a fight with her. Nowadays, I accept some people are selfish/thoughtless and I focus on the many who did bother to come along and spend time with me. I'm thankful for them. And I accept this other "friend" for who she is and just reflect my level of effort for her to the level of effort she's made for me.

As you said - kids don't need 'quailty time' just your time - and as my wise old mum used to say - Memories don't come with a price tag'

Amen to that. My birthday was yesterday and I could have written the same thing! Especially the bit about growing up. What is that quote about being old and arriving gracefully versus skidding in sideways? That's us kiddo.
