  1. Whats That Smell!

    Posted on

My husband insists he is going to have the words "What's That Smell" engraved on my headstone. I very often walk into a room and say those infamous words, so when we were given an opportunity to review the new game "What's That Smell?" from WowWee, we jumped at the chance.

If you have teenagers you have probably already been through the food challenges they love to do and sometimes the worse the better, so we thought that this was an ideal game for a teenagers sleepover, because taking a sniff can make you a winner!

    The game includes:

    • 48 mystery whiff cards
    • 4 STANK cards & scent-barrier bags
    • 6 cardholders
    • a sheet of whiff strips
    • scorepad
    • Instructions for 2-6 players ages 14+

The best games are always the most simple ones and thankfully the format of this game is really simple. Every player has a card, the timer starts and you scratch and sniff using your whiff strip then write down the answer on your score pad. You get awarded extra points for guessing which category the scent is from and for sharing your funniest memory with it.

Some of the smells are sweet but there are also smells that are downright awful. I am not afraid to admit some definitely hit my gag reflex!  The winner of each round is crowned the Nose-It-All and gets to nominate someone to suffer the Whiff of Shame – 3 big sniffs of one the disgusting Stank Cards! ( I wouldn't recommend eating before doing this!!)

This game can be played with or without the app. We didn't use it but think it could add another dimension to the game and you can use the app to track the number of players and sniffing time, earn extra bonus points by comparing guesses with other people who played the game, and record the priceless Whiff Of Shame.

We played this with the teenagers but can imagine an evening with friends, fuelled by a few cheeky drinks and this could be a hilarious game for adults too!

What's That Smell? game is not for the feint hearted but it is horrific and hilarious in equal measures and we hope that WowWee will add extension packs with new ranges of smells in the future.

It would be a perfect gift this Christmas and we are delighted to be able to give our readers the chance to win the What's That Smell? Game which retails for £24.99 with Amazon, Smyths and Argos.

  2. LOL Surprise : Biggie Pets Review

    Posted on

Everyone we know loves LOL Surprise Pets, they are the collectables that all our friends have, so how do LOL keep the excitement growing with their newest launch ..... they simply get better and BIGGER!

    IMG_5232

The new LOL Surprise Biggie Pets have 15 surprises and in true LOL style, you have to unwrap to find your surprise – will it be 2 babies, or 3? Or, are they food babies? L.O.L. Surprise! Biggie Pets have tons of surprises inside and include wear and share accessories too – all for you.

So who are the Biggie Pets?

    • Dollmatian (this is who we were lucky enough to get)
    • Hop Hop
    • MC Hammy
    • Neon Kitty

The ball was a little tricky to open but not entirely sure if this was user error or just well made packaging but we got there in the end with a little help from mom!

    IMG_0016

You will note that we perfectly matched our little reviewers outfit to our Biggie Pet as you can actually see the pet through the coloured ball but this is great as it gives you more of a chance to collect them all!

We were looking through the glasses on the box but you can use the Eye Spy Series spy glasses to find codes and unlock even more surprises!

    IMG_0017

Once the Biggie Pet is out of the packaging, you realise that it has an attachment and at first we thought this was a lead for your pet but realised that amongst all the other fun, the pet can be used as a backpack. If you don't want to use it as a backpack (our little reviewer didn't) it also (and rather brilliantly) doubles as a piggy bank!

Another element to the L.O.L. Surprise!  Biggie Pets is the kinetic sand that the L.O.L. Surprise Babies (or food babies) arrive in. Just like the Series 3 pet balls, biggie pet baskets include kinetic sand that needs to be scooped out to find pet babies.

We will be uploading our YouTube video really soon but in case you can't wait, here are all the things you get with your Biggie Pet:

    1. Biggie pet
    2. Pet baby 1
    3. Pet baby 2
    4. Food baby charm or pet baby charm
    5. Spy glasses
    6. Pet necklace
    7. Wish bone
    8. Funny bone
    9. Fortune teller heart
    10. Baby reveal (use with the spy glasses)
    11. Pet scoop for pet baby 1
    12. 1st accessory for pet baby 1
    13. 2nd accessory for pet baby 1
    14. Pet basket for pet baby 1 (magnetic sand inside)
    15. Pet scoop for pet baby 2 (magnetic sand inside)
    16. 1st accessory for pet baby 2
    17. 2nd accessory for pet baby 2
    18. Pet basket for pet baby 2
    19. Giant carrying case

Instead of being in the ball, the surprises in the blind bags come out of the biggie pet’s BOTTOM. Our little reviewer couldn't believe it when she opened the bottom of the pet and the surprises kept coming!

The LOL Surprise : Biggie Pets retail at £36.99 and can be purchased from Amazon and various toy shops.

  3. Zapf Baby Annabell Brother | Review

    Posted on

There was recently the birth of a new baby prince and it became very apparent in our "baby collection" that we had rather a lot of girl babies and not many boys. Fear not, we were delighted to be given the opportunity to review the Baby Annabell brother doll, which was perfectly timed following the birth of Prince Louis of Cambridge!

We adore Baby Annabell and have tried and tested many of the products in the range from the swimming doll to big sister, not to mention the Baby Annabell bedroom. And if I am honest, it makes for a refreshing change to have a baby boy in the house!

    IMG_4042

The key things to note about Baby Annabell's Brother are:

    • You can cradle him in your arms and he will yawn and his eyes will close (this is actually adorable)
    • You can tell how well he's feeling as his mood changes when you stroke his cheek or pat his back. (again adorable)
    • He can now really wet his nappy & use his potty!
    • It says that the Baby Annabell brother is suitable for three years and up and we have a six year old so it is definitely made to last. Please note: 4 x AA batteries are required (not included).

First impressions of the Baby Annabell Brother, or "Baby George" as he is now affectionately known in our house (the 6 year old wasn't convinced on the name Louis, but lets not tell William and Kate) was sheer delight at firstly having a new baby to look after but secondly, and more importantly, that it was a boy.

    IMG_4043

I know that I have stressed this a few times but the fact that it is a boy is a big deal. We have a great deal of "pink" in our house and if you go into any toy shop, the pink baby girls ALWAYS outweigh the number of blue ones. It is proven that from cognitive and motor development to social-emotional growth, that no other single toy comes close to the impact that dolls can have. So having a "boy" doll may inspire more opportunities for boys to play, explore and experiment with different choices, personalities, and responses.

    IMG_4044

The Baby Annabell Brother is soft to the touch but his face moves with a sucking motion when he has his dummy or bottle. This is possibly my favourite feature of the doll (although we are not allowed to refer to him as a doll - he is a baby of course). lf you him flat or pat his back, baby goes back off to sleep. The sounds he generatees are varied, from crying to a sucking sound and a cute “happy” sound along with snoring whilst it’s asleep. Baby Annabells brother is suitable for ALL children and can assist them to learn skills of nurturing, empathy, and caretaking through doll play.

The new Baby Annabell Brother is available from around £50 which seems a lot for a "doll" but when it is suitable from 3 years of age and we are happily playing with it at the grand old age of 6 and a half, this makes it a gift that will stand the test of time. (oh and it is adorable too!

  4. Thumbs Up Roller Wheel Review & Giveaway

    Posted on

Do you remember when you were a child and there was nothing more entertaining than rolling down a hill and ending up laughing and laughing at the bottom because you were dizzy and out of breath? Fast forward a few years and the folk from Thumbs Up have devised the Thumbs Up Roller Wheel to bring you hours of fun, whether you have a hill or not!

    1054_INFLROLWHL_08

We found that the inflatable wheel comes complete with a collection of colourful balls inside that jiggle and bounce around as the wheel rotates, this interactive toy really captures kids' imaginations. What's more, because it's made from durable inflatable plastic, it's suitable for use both indoors and out - just be sure to use it on the grass if you're outside to avoid any potential punctures!

    1054_INFLROLWHL_00

The Roller Wheel comes with a manual foot pump but to be completely honest you might be there all day with it and if, like me, you have an impatient child who can't wait to get in the wheel, you might be better off choosing an electric pump like we did! It took around 2-3 minutes to fully inflate with the electric pump so not long at all.

    IMG_3743

As you can see, the delight on her face at being able to get inside the roller wheel and despite taking a little while to get to grips with it (i,e falling out a few times) she played it in for over an hour. Who knew so much fun could be had with an inflatable wheel?

    IMG_3745

My eldest daughter was not amused that she was too big to go in the Roller Wheel (there is a weight limit of 5 stone, 7lbs) but that didn't stop her from pushing her sister around. The really big "kid" (also known as my husband) loves being outside and as the little one is a secret adrenalin junkie, the pair of them loved rolling her around in the Roller Wheel.

    IMG_3757

If I am being completely honest, when I first opened the box I thought it might be a bit young for the 6 year old and a bit limited as to its use but I can safely say that she thinks it is brilliant and has even put the iPad aside to go outside and play, so the Roller Wheel gets my vote.

As well as being brilliant fun, the Roller Wheel also helps children sharpen skills like coordination, cooperative play, physical strength, visual and auditory stimulation and more. If you think your little one would love a Thumbs Up Roller Wheel, we are delighted to be able to give you the chance to win one! All you need to do is enter below.
